The Paddle Shop Island 16km Ocean Paddle will be held on Saturday, 8th November 2025 at Mooloolaba Beach. Depending on wind conditions, the course will head around Old Woman (Mudjimba) Island and return to Mooloolaba.
All registration is via Webscorer. Please remember your login to access the Webscorer app for tracking during the race. When completing the online form, you will be asked to read our waiver and tick the box to agree to the terms and conditions — there are no additional forms at registration.
The official race briefing will be held at the designated beach area after Registration/Check-In closes (9:30 am) and before race start. Attendance is compulsory for all paddlers.
Start at the Spit end of Mooloolaba Beach near the rock wall. Head north towards Mudjimba (Old Woman) Island, round the island clockwise, keep well clear of rocks, and pass two yellow marker buoys. Then return directly to Mooloolaba Spit, finishing on the beach between the pink arch.
Important: All paddlers must keep at least 300 metres clear of the Mooloolah River mouth entry at all times (heavily trafficked area).
Only competitors may access the registration area. Each competitor will receive an ankle strap with a timing chip. Please wear it securely on your ankle, facing outward for accurate detection. The chip records your race time via Webscorer.
Presentations will be held at 1:30 pm upstairs at the Mooloolaba Surf Club – Bay n Bites Bar. Each competitor will also receive a lucky draw ticket.
The finish is a dry beach finish between the large pink arch. Your chip will auto-register your result in Webscorer. After finishing, please hand your ankle strap and chip to a finish-line volunteer (this also serves as manual back-up).
If you do not finish, hand your strap/chip to water-safety crew or finish-line officials so you can be marked safe. If you exit the course or withdraw early, phone the Race Coordinator on 0422 159 504.
Note: Unreturned chips incur a $10 replacement fee and results will not be published.
Online results will be posted on Webscorer once all competitors are accounted for (final head count).
Collect a ticket at the Surf Club on arrival to enter the lucky door draw.
Scrutineering of compulsory equipment (lifejackets and leashes) will occur at check-in. By entering the event, competitors agree to meet the following requirements:
Note: This is an open-ocean event starting/finishing at a surf beach. No first-timers, please — safety first.
Ages are determined as of the day registrations close.
There will be 7 support boats covering the 16 km course, spaced approximately every 2.5 km. If you require assistance, raise your hand, attract attention, and wait for the nearest support boat.
